The Voice of Victory Prison Ministry came into existence in the spring of 2001 after our son Russ Jr. was arrested and convicted and given an 18 to 23 year sentence in the state of North Carolina. Our life was turned upside down at this point. I tried several times to find some one to go see our son after he was arrested. We found no one except a dear pastor in western NC. We want to thank him for showing love and kindness to our son.My whole thinking process and my heart was changed about prisoners. Though this whole situation with our son  the Lord Jesus gave us a commandment and a LOVE,  to reach as many prison inmates as possible. It was the Lord speaking, Russ Kessler you now see, that these sons or daughters belong to someone, they  are special. I can tell you that I have met many Moms and Dads all over this land and they have asked us to pray for their child that is in prison. There are some 6.7 million men and women currently under the Correctional Supervision here in these United States of America. Hebrews 13:3  Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity. We must reach those that are in prison and show them the LOVE of Jesus Christ and that they can be forgiven of their sins and that God will Love them no matter what. This my friend is real Christianity in action.  1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity (LOVE) among yourselves: for charity (LOVE) shall cover the multitude of sins.

Our involvement with  the Sept 11, 2001 crash of United Flight 93 that crashed in Somerset County has opened so many doors with the prison system. We believe that the Lord used this terrible tragedy to thrust this new ministry into existence. Our hearts are opened to reach as many of these inmates with the Gospel as possible. As a Pastor for over 25 years, I must confess I did not see the need, to reach out to these that were incarcerated.  I have asked God to forgive me and to allow me to help our Baptist Churches all over this land to reach into every local, State and Federal Prison and share the Love of Christ. Maybe you or your family will never feel the incredible hurt to see a love one incarcerated, but you can  help those that have the hurt, and those that  are incarcerated .

If I might be of help to you or your church in reaching the incarcerated in your area or to help start a prison  ministry  please call me, I would love to help in any way possible.

Bro. Russ Kessler
